RESPONSIBILITIESSupervision • Communicate location goals and results to employees • Actively support employee growth - Update employees regularly on procedures, protocol, and product knowledge - Discuss performance of each employee with Feed Department Manager - Stimulate and develop positive morale and team spirit that leads to high productivity - Actively work to increase personal skills and knowledge • Uphold cooperative policies - Ensure that location feed mill facilities and equipment meet all federal, state, and OSHA regulations - Inform all customers and employees of safe product handling - Follow the regular maintenance schedule for location feed mill facilities and equipment Service • Have equipment in excellent operating condition. • Communicate claims and complaints promptly to the Feed Department Manager • Plan for coverage of duties in case of a planned absence, such as vacation, or an unplanned absence, such as illness • Lose no customers due to services provided by the department Feed Mill and Product Inventory • Supervise and monitor quality and quantities of all incoming and outgoing products • Supervise ingredient sampling to maintain quality in a manner that will optimize the cooperative’s market share and savings, improve efficiency and maintain outstanding customer service. • Maintain a system for monitoring and controlling inventory levels that results in minimal shrinkage and maximum efficient use of storage space • Supervise checking of all in-shipments for accuracy against the delivery ticket, proper quantity and quality • Maintain inventories at adequate levels to insure uninterrupted manufacturing Compliance, Safety and Maintenance • Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) policy and procedures • Ensure that all HACCP paper work and documentation is up to date and filed appropriately • Participate in UFC HACCP audits • Ensure that all feed mill employees understand HACCP procedures and policy • Ensure that all feed mill employees follow UFC and customer Biosecurity protocols • Ensure property, facilities, and equipment remain in good repair and appearance • Make recommendations on replacement, additions, or deletions of facilities and equipment when needed and/or economically justified • Lose no customer due to unsatisfactory equipment performance • Observe OSHA, state and federal safety regulations and housekeeping standards Daily Operations • Operate computerized batch mixing equipment, receiving and load-out equipment, micro-ingredient addition, grinding equipment and pelleting equipment. • Performs required preventative maintenance and have all preventative maintenance reports turned in on time. • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas. • Maintain a high level of quality control at all times. • Keep production records on all feeds manufactured. • Check with Production Coordinator to get feed made for trucking schedule. • Sequence feed properly to prevent drug carryover or ruminant meat and bone contamination. • Follow rules set forth in Quality Assurance Manual and follow all Good Manufacturing Regulations. • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times. • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service. • Read and follow company employee policies. • Promote safety and follow all United Farmers Cooperative HACCP, FDA and OSHA safety guidelines. • Assist in loading and unloading company and customer vehicles with product as needed. Other Duties The Commercial Feed Mill Location Manager will perform any other duties as assigned by the Feed Department Manager and uphold all cooperative policies and visions.

To direct, promote, and coordinate commercial feed mill operations in a manner that will optimize the United Farmers Cooperative’s market share and savings, improve the UFC’s efficiency, help achieve the cooperative’s mission and goals, and result in outstanding customer service.
Responsible for daily feed mill staffing, operations and feed production. Responsible for record keeping and process management for a HACCP certified mill. Functions include operating computers, working with Easy Automation batching systems and programs, maintenance of equipment and plant. Operation of forklifts, loaders and other duties as required.
