  • RESPONSIBILITIES
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    • Supports New Vision Co-op’s stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
    • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
    • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
    • Read and follow company employee policies.
    • Maintain precise records of customer and vendor payments, invoices, and other financial records.
    • Sets prices based on margin rates provided by the Agronomy Department Manager
    • Prepares price sheets at the request of the Agronomy Department Manager and reconciles them to the ERP.
    • Oversees the processing of end of month Agronomy Department activity.
    • Monitor and compare invoices and purchase receipts against purchase orders, research discrepancies, and approve for payment.
    • Prepare and maintain customer financing options as related to agronomy products, including third party financing options and New Vision Co-op’s internal finance program.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and prepayments.
    • Maintain historical records by creating PDF’s and e-filing.
    • Ensure accounting and operations staff are maintaining live and accurate inventory.
    • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of documents/reports for wholesale vendors.
    • Assist the Agronomy Department Manager with maintaining a DPR for major products.
    • File accurate and timely federal and state forms as required as applicable to the agronomy department.
    • Assist other New Vision departments and office personnel with projects as needed.
    • Accept additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the CFO or Agronomy Department Manager.
    Communication Expectations
    • Report unsafe, defective or impaired working equipment or unsafe conditions to your Supervisor.
    • Communicate the information necessary to co-workers to perform tasks according to their job requirements, maintain location efficiency and maintain a safe working environment.
    • Ask Supervisor for information or instructions when needed.
    • Inform Supervisor of suggestions to improve safety, efficiency or increase business.
    • Immediately report any work-related injury, property damage or theft to the supervisor or general manager.
    Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will supervise the Agronomy Accounting Clerk and Agronomy Accountant positions. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with New Vision’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university and three or more years of industry experience; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with agronomy-related accounting is preferred.
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
    • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • Knowledge of Accounting software and Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and Outlook.
    • Other Relevant Skills: Multi-tasking, organizational skills, attention to detail.
    • Valid driver's license

Summary: Directs and coordinates activities related to the agronomy accounting department, including the oversight of department staff in day-to-day operations. Sets prices for agronomic products and accurately maintains price sheet and ERP. Ensures that agronomy records are maintained accurately and in balance with the general ledger and that accounting and inventory tasks are performed in a uniform manner at all locations. Provides timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports and financial trends as well as recommendations to strategically enhance the financial performance of the agronomy department.
